How To Use Accupuncture
Many Americans are beginning to realize that Western medicine is not doing the trick in terms of making them feel better. They are learning about Eastern practices to help them remedy their health issues. Eastern medicine does attempt to find and focus on the root of whatever health issue someone has instead of just remedying it. When the root of the problem is found, treatment can begin to reverse the issue. People have turned to acupuncture treatment for years to help them get a grip on what is bothering them. The treatment focuses on finding the core of the problem and resolving the proper energy.
Since acupuncture treatment began in the East, it used to only be available in the West in very special areas where there were large concentrations of Asian populations. There were not that many practitioners available in the West. Over the years, when it was found that many prescription drugs and over the counter medications were making people’s conditions worse, or if people simply could not pay the raised prices of drugs to not have good results. People began to use acupuncture treatment in hopes of getting to the source of their problems.
Practitioners use acupuncture treatment to unblock passages in the body so that energy can flow freely through the body. When a patient has blockages in their blood flow, the body does not properly send blood to where it needs to be, resulting in some unwanted pressure points. People use acupuncture treatment for a variety of reasons. Some treat acne, infertility, stress, overall pain, etc.
When going in for acupuncture treatment, the patient is asked to fill out a series of forms and then has a long talk with the practitioner to determine which areas need the treatment. It is important for the practitioner to know the health history and all the medication that the patient has been on so that a proper detox plan can be put into place.
The patient will then either lay face down or face up and is told to relax. The acupuncture treatment includes several needles varying in width being inserted into the body. Some needles are inserted further in than others depending on how severe the condition is that is being treated. Once the needles are inserted, the lights are dimmed and the patient is told to relax.
Normally if the patient’s eyes are closed, it is difficult for then to even notice the needles and often, the needles do not hurt when they are inserted. If anything, the patient may feel a tingle where the needles are, meaning that the passages are being unblocked. During acupuncture treatment, the practitioner will come in to check on how the patient is feeling. After the treatment is complete, the practitioner will remove the needles and will ask how the patient is feeling. Depending on the success of the treatment, the practitioner will then come up with a plan that will work for the patient.
