The experiments were conducted taking the help of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The instrument measured the blood flow in brain for number of people. Hypertension affected participants were found to be having less amount of blood flow to the brain. It was even lower in case of patients with complains of both hypertension and Alzheimer’s. This established the fact that the two are interrelated.

Dr. Oscar Lopez, also of the Pittsburgh University, feels that hypertension should be diagnosed and clinically managed for Alzheimer’s patients at the first priority. A life free from blood pressure is safer from Alzheimer’s as well.

As described by Dr. Raji, the way high blood pressure reduces the normal blood flow volume in brain actually is responsible for brain disease like Alzheimer’s. The two could be complementing each other.

Though high blood pressure is not directly responsible for Alzheimer’s dieses, but it makes the brain more susceptible for it and can bring in other disorders related to memory, thinking, language and concentration. One never knows which direction a situation could move with a more morbid brain.
